“Rediscovering Australia’s musical heritage”

Hosted by the USQ Research and Innovation Division.

In this Twilight Talk, Professor Rhoderick McNeill will open up the fascinating world of Australia’s musical past. In particular the forgotten repertoire of Symphonies written by Australians between 1893 and 1960 will be explored in word and sound. Professor McNeill will make a case for the revival of this important musical material in publications and recordings.

Professor Rhoderick McNeill is the author of an important new book The Australian Symphony From Federation to 1960 (Ashgate, 2014) and the Head of the School of Arts and Communication at USQ.

A reception in the USQ Arts Gallery will follow the recital – refreshments will be served.
