Larrikins, rough tracks and runaway horses...
It is Monday, 1 January, 1866. A gleaming red coach pulls up outside the Royal Hotel in Queen Street, Brisbane, and the passengers clamber on board. With a lurch and clatter of hooves, the coach crosses the new Victoria Bridge bound for Ipswich and Toowoomba. And so the adventure begins…
The legendary coaching company, Cobb & Co., began its Queensland operations in 1865 and our new exhibition marks the 150th anniversary of this event. The exhibition features some of the Museum’s rarely seen photographs and memorabilia.
Admission to Cobb+Co Museum is free for Toowoomba Regional Council residents.
