‘GREASE’ AUDITIONS NOW OPEN!

The Toowoomba Philharmonic Society is very excited to announce that applications are open for Grease, the musical, which will be staged in September at the Empire Theatre.

The Society is seeking talented cast members who can hold harmonies and blend well as a group with their vocal, acting and movement.

Audition information packs are now available on the Philharmonic Society website for actors, singers and dancers, with registrations closing on Friday 15 April. Auditions and call backs will be held on the weekend of Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May.

Director Cherie Vera said Grease was a musical that should prove popular with the whole community.

“Performances will coincide with the last weekend of this year’s Carnival of Flowers so we’re expecting big audiences from the local area as well as further afield. Tickets are already selling well.

“The show has lots of opportunities for young, local talent to be involved and I’m confident that we’ll find a fantastic cast to deliver everyone’s hand-jiving favourites like Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’ and You’re the One that I Want,” said Ms Vera.

“We’re really excited to be putting on the show at such a great venue as the Empire Theatre. It’s going to be fast, energetic and just a lot of fun.”

So dust off your leather jacket and grab an audition pack because Grease just might be the word for you!

THE STORY

It’s 1959 and Sandy Dumbrowski, the new girl in town, and Danny Zuko, the school’s coolest greaser, have a secret summertime romance – but when they get back to school, everything is different. The demure Sandy tries to break into the Rydell High School social scene and catch Danny’s attention again but Danny is mostly concerned with maintaining his tough-guy reputation. With the help of the Pink Ladies, can Sandy figure out how to win back the leader of the Burger Palace Boys?

Auditions and Registration Information: Registration forms must be completed in full for your application to be considered. You must be 16 years or older at the time of audition to apply.
