Downs Little Lifeguard’s Dam Busters day!

It’s time for our community to knock down the number of drowning deaths that occur in our dams.

Join us Sunday 12 March from 9.00am to 3pm
At Leslie Dam YMCA Outdoor Education Centre
$10 registration fee includes gift pack
Children 9-17 years (adults are encouraged to participate)

Volunteers from Royal Lifesaving Queensland and Milne Bay Aquatic and Fitness Centre joined forces to bring you the Downs Little Lifeguard educational drowning prevention program. This one day session is a community initiative to fight back against the increasing statistic and the horrific number of drowning’s that has occurred over the Christmas break and the summer season.

It is our goal to teach as many families a few survival skills and talk about unknowns of our dams, creeks and rivers that cause these deaths in our favourite swimming holes.

This day is a family event and we want parents and children to participate.
Skills covered during the day:
• Water safety and environment talk
• Dam swimming
• PFD drills
• Swimming fully clothed
• Games including paddle boards, treading water, esky’s ropes, buckets, balls and more
• Rescue skills using aids
• CPR
• Scenarios

On the day – own transport is needed.
• 9am arrival and welcome
• Morning activities (and light refreshments supplied)
• 12pm BBQ lunch (supplied)
• Afternoon activities (and light refreshments supplied)
• 3pm conclude and hand out of certificates
