The University of Southern Queensland is proud to host the annual Festival of Astronomy & Space. The Festival, which will be held in the first week of October 2017. The festival celebrates astronomy and the space sciences, and consists of a series of free public lectures on the evenings of Tuesday 3rd - Friday 6th October, and Monday 9th October. The lectures will be held at USQ's Toowoomba Campus, in the Allison Dickson lecture theatre. The full line-up is as follows:
Tuesday 3rd October: Prof Tamara Davis (University of Queensland), talking about 'The Dark Side of the Universe'
Wednesday 4th October: Dr Carolyn Brown and Belinda Nicholson (University of Southern Queensland), talking about 'Observing the Universe'
Thursday 5th October: Prof Fred Watson (Australian Astronomical Observatory), talking about 'Moon Mysteries'
Friday 6th October: Prof Giovanna Tinetti (University College London), talking about 'Exoplanets and Their Atmospheres'
Monday 9th October: Dr Douglas Hudgins (NASA), talking about "NASA's Exoplanet Exploration Program"
