Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts are recognised across the globe as amongst the most powerful statements of identity and culture in the contemporary world. The Australia Council points out that ‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts are a rich contribution to the world’s culture, and to Australia’s diverse contemporary culture and national identity.’
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Emerging Artist Exhibition showcases the works of emerging Indigenous artists who identify with both past cultural traditions and contemporary forms of cultural politics and lore. The aim of the exhibition is to offer a platform for these artists to connect with both culture and the broader Australian community.
Exhibition opening: 5pm, Tuesday 20 July in the USQ Arts Gallery.
