Old Land New Vision is a group of local artist Bruce Rodger’s interpreted scenes of the Darling Downs region encompassing areas such as the eastern ranges to as far west as Tara. It also includes Jondaryan, Kingsthorpe and north to the Bunyas. These are not entirely representational but atmospheric, imaginative reminders of what remained in Rodger’s mind after enjoying the moment.
The paintings are interpretations of the cool grey blues of the early morning before dawn, the golden after light of the setting sun, the harsh clarity of midday and the translucent deep blues of a moonlit landscape. They are a translation of Rodger’s love of rural Australia.
His great wish is that others will also enjoy the peace and beauty of the Australian countryside through these paintings.
Join the gallery for the opening on Sunday 28 May starting at 1.30pm. This is a free event and all are welcome.
