Immerse yourself in the world of Spanish theatre with the USQ 3rd year theatre student’s production of The House of Bernarda Alba.
Written by Federico Garcia Lorca, this classic Spanish production is an explosive tale of suppressed desires and jealousies which will leave you spellbound and wanting more.
“To burn with desire and keep quiet about it is the greatest punishment we can bring on ourselves.” –Federico García Lorca
About the play:
Bernarda Alba rules her family of complex, passionate women with an iron will and an acid tongue.
On the day of her second husband’s funeral, Bernarda imposes an eight year mourning period upon her five adult daughters.
Holed up as virtual prisoners in their own home, secrets are revealed, battles unleashed and another life is lost. Contains adult themes, sexual references and violence.
