Contemporary Wearables Biennial Jewellery Award and Exhibition recognises and promotes innovation in design and use of materials in the creation of contemporary jewellery and adornment. Inaugurated in 1989, the award continues to attract entries from prominent and emerging artists in Australia and New Zealand. 

The award exhibition brings together a diverse range of contemporary works created by jewellers, artisans and makers that are contemporary both in design and social commentary.

This year’s award exhibition was juried by Dr Sabine Pagan, contemporary jeweller and interdisciplinary practitioner and Mr Kevin Murray, independent writer, curator and managing editor for Garland Magazine. 

Award winners will be selected by the judge and announced along with selected acquisitions at the official opening and awards ceremony on Sunday 17 September 2017 @ 1.30pm. RSVP to the gallery by Wednesday 13 September.

Contemporary Wearables is curated by Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery which is owned and managed by Toowoomba Regional Council. Award prize money is sponsored by the Toowoomba Gallery Society Inc. while Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery acquires works for the Toowoomba City Collection.
