Explore the literature and history of World War I with Dr Jessica Gildersleeve and Richard Gehrmann.

Gain a clear understanding of the most important events leading to and during WWI, including an overview of the literature of this period.

Topics and activities will include:

– What kinds of phases did the war go through, and what did it mean to different people at different times and in different places?
– What was the experience of battle like? What were soldiers saying and writing about the war?
– How did the war impact those at home?
– How has the war been represented in the century since?
– We’ll also show you how to use online databases to find primary sources about individuals and groups during the war.
