Perhaps the most celebrated of all the Marx Bros’ pictures! The mythical country of Freedonia is in a financial mess. After borrowing a huge sum of cash from wealthy widow Mrs. Teasdale, the widow insists on replacing the current president with crazy Rufus T. Firefly and mayhem erupts.

At his inauguration, Firefly shows up late, insults everyone in sight, and sings a song about how he intends to abuse his power. Naturally, the crowd cheers wildly. To make matters worse, the neighbouring state sends inept spies Chicolini and Pinky to obtain top secret information, creating even more chaos!
