From carefully constructed displays of piety to economic wealth and power, gold is commonly associated with extravagance, religion, power and wealth. As a precious metal, gold is soft and malleable and presents a plethora of opportunities for artists to play. This exhibition looks at the materiality of gold and its use with an artist’s touch. On display are works from the Gallery’s Collections that include an element of gold, ranging from an extravagant use to modest highlights.

Join us for a Twilight Tour on Thursday 15 March @ 5.30pm | This is a free event and all are welcome | RSVP to the gallery.

Exhibition on display from 10 March to 6 May 2018.
