About Jen:

“Jen Mize is more than a great singer-songwriter… she’s a true artist” (John Walker, Music City Roots). A descendant of the Lumbee Tribe of Native Americans, Mize hails from a family of Georgia cotton and North Carolina tobacco farmers, and Appalachian moonshiners. Since the 2014 release of her stellar debut album Fear, Pride & a few Stubborn Angels, Jen has been busy touring, recording, and earning the accolades that come with the hard work of being an Alt Country troubadour.

About Mark:

Mark Sholtez is an ARIA nominate and APRA award winning songwriter and recording artist. His career to date has included collaborations with multiple Grammy winning producers Tommy LiPuma (Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis), and Larry Klein (Joni Mitchel), as well as internationally renowned artists and songwriters including Don Walker (Cold Chisel), The Veronicas, Iain Archer (Snow Patrol), Troy Cassar-Daley, and Wendy Mathews. Mark also teaches Songwriting and Music Production at the University of Southern Queensland.

About Little Village Sessions:

Little Village is a collaborative concert between established Australian contemporary musicians, USQ Music staff, and USQ Music students.

In previous years Little Village has presented concerts featuring Wendy Matthews, Rick Price, and Sara Storer – rearranging their classic recordings for a one-off concert event.

Little Village focuses on creating both a unique experience for visiting artists, and an opportunity for USQ music students to experience working with a professional artist, helping their transition into the modern music industry.

By drawing together the expertise of USQ music staff, university facilities and technical capacity, the Little Village events create a high level experience of industry, seeing students putting into practice many of the skills developed throughout their tertiary study.
