Get creative this winter and join the Gallery for artist-led workshops for kids in conjunction with the exhibition I Want to be in a Book - Narelle Oliver.

A local talented author-illustrator-artist of many award-winning children’s picture books, Narelle Oliver wrote I Want to be in a Book for the little drawing on her pin board named ‘Cecil’. Narelle had not quite finished her work before she passed in 2016, but her vision for Cecil and his story were complete, and he became the character and book they were meant to be. On display in the exhibition I want to be in a Book Narelle Oliver are original prints, linocuts and roughs from the book.

Join local artists Sue McMaster & Rhi Johnson as they celebrate Narelle’s work and host their own workshops exploring storytelling and character building:

Tuesday 10 July to Friday 13 July | Two hour workshops starting at 10.30am each day:

• Mixed Media Workshop with Sue McMaster: Building layers through story-telling and character-development (Tuesday)
• Paint Workshop with Sue McMaster: Building layers through story-telling and character-development (Wednesday)
• Print-making Workshop with Rhi Johnson: Design and print your own character (Thursday)
• Textile Workshop with Rhi Johnson: Design and make your own character (Friday)
