To:Sunday 18 November 2018
Time:10:00am - 03:00pm Sunday 18 November 2018
Location:Perseverance Hall, Perseverance Hall Road, Ravensbourne, Queensland 4352 Australia

This month marks 130 years since a ballot was held to decide the successful applicants for eighty agricultural township farms adjacent to the newly proclaimed village of Ravensbourne.

People who were successful in the ballot soon began arriving with their families.  The period marked the single most rapid arrival of people into the district. Descendants of many of those people continue to live in the district or in the region.  Some young locals are sixth generation.

Members of the Munro Tramway Historical Group and other district residents have assembled a sizeable amount of information about the first selectors, the tramway which extended from Hampton to Ravensbourne in the early 20th century, and the timber harvesting industry which was a significant source of income for many settlers well into the early years of the twentieth century until sufficient land was cleared for dairying and cropping.  They are hosting a celebration of 130 years of closer settlement of Ravensbourne on Sunday 18th November next at Perserverance Hall, 10 Perseverance Hall Rd, Ravensbourne.  The event commences at 10 a.m.
