A stunning exploration of the concept of expansion from picture frame to the design of space and architecture.

Curated by Tarn McLean and Dr Kyle Jenkins

Exhibition opening: 5pm, Tuesday 15 March in the USQ Arts Gallery.

This electric body of work is informed by Tarn McLean’s PhD research where various modes of painting explore changes the way you experience the traditional gallery experience.

Tarn’s work moves beyond the confines of the picture frame, occupying an aesthetic space within the disciplines of wall painting, fashion, textile design, video and installation art with links to the tradition of the medium. Through the clarification of the art museum and gallery, the work exists as a framework that alters embodied experiences of spatial awareness.

Tarn is a Toowoomba based artist and designer currently undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy in Visual Art at the University of Southern Queensland. Tarn’s work spans from a highly disciplined practice embedded in mid 20th Century American Geometric Abstract painting, moving towards the design of space and architecture.

Tarn is also the co-owner and co-director of RAYGUN.
