Songwriting: An introduction to lyrical form and structure.

This three hour intensive workshop with award-winning musician Mark Sholtez aims to highlight how form and structure serves as the body language of your lyrics. It will also touch on the roles of melodic and harmonic structure in supporting your narrative. This workshop is aimed at teachers requiring professional development in songwriting, and the general music community interested in building their songwriting skills.

Appropriate for 16 years and older.

Mark Sholtez

Mark is an ARIA-nominated and APRA award-winning songwriter and recording artist. He was the first and only Australian artist to be signed to the prestigious New York record label Verve. His career to date has included collaborations with multiple Grammy-winning producer Tommy LiPuma (Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Barbra Streisand, Miles Davis), Grammy Life Time Achievement recipient and noted veteran engineer Al Schmitt (Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson), and multiple Grammy-winning producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell). He has also contributed music to numerous film and television productions including Private Practice, Pretty Little Liars, and Packed to the Rafters.
