There’s never been a better opportunity to stop and smell the roses at Newtown’s Queensland State Rose Garden.
Since March, volunteers now hold a regular monthly tour of the world-class rose garden, where visitors can learn about the history and varieties of roses on display.
Queensland State Rose Garden President Regina Albion said the community deserves to see and learn more about the award-winning gardens.
“It’s a free attraction to the whole Region,” Regina said.
“We’ve been doing tours for a while, but not on a regular basis until recently.
“All roses planted at the gardens are well documented. Information surrounding the different varieties and their history can be shared with visitors both now and far into the future. The park has a rich history as well, which we love to share with interested visitors,” she said.
Last year, the Queensland State Rose Garden was awarded the International Garden of Excellence Award by the World Federation of Rose Societies.
Queensland State Rose Garden volunteers will hold a tour every fourth Saturday of the month. For more information, visit www.tr.qld.gov.au/events
