The rabbits are coming!

LIT Festival: Stories in Lights is returning to Toowoomba’s streets from March 13-21 to explore this year’s theme of Influx through major projections, art installations and street performance.

The 2020 festival will showcase the major larger-than-life installation at Grand Central by Tasmanian-artist Amanda Parer.

The Civic Green will come alive with resident’s vision of Toowoomba in 100 years’ time, as part of the Toowoomba: 2120 installation, led by local artist Alex Stalling.

These works were produced through a series of workshops at Grand Central. The results of works produced by local filmmakers through a masterclass with Melbourne’s Yandall Walton will be shown at Bell Street Mall.

The three locations (Grand Central, Bell Street Mall and the Civic Green) will be linked with festival goers led between venues by a troupe of street performers that have been designing costumes and rehearsing characters as part of The Story Merchants.

Teachers across the region are invited to explore the theme in their classes with a suite of educational resources also developed to look at what influx means to their students, hosted on the LIT webpage. In 2020, LIT Festival has secured funding through Regional Arts Development Fund, Toowoomba Regional Council, and secured a number of partnerships to make this event possible.
