On the 8th of May, The Fruit of the Willow will be hosting a community event at Queens Park Toowoomba (Cnr of Margaret and Lindsay st). This event will commence at 2 pm and will finish at approximately 4:30 pm. This event is open for all community members to attend. Our mission is to bring a redemptive change within our community and to do life together! To achieve this, we have partnered with local organisations such as YouBelong, Young Kings, Second Shot and Emerge to develop a strong sense of community.
This event seeks to be multi-generational and multicultural, bringing together community groups that may not frequently cross paths. Our picnic will be accessible for our Yezedi refugees with free transport and interpretation provided for them to attend. We intend for members of our community to share their stories if they feel lead and receive empowerment and honour. We are looking for people to share, but also for people to uplift and encourage others! This is how we can bring a great change across our city!
Throughout the picnic, community groups will be hosting various sports such as volleyball, footy, tug-of-war and soccer.
We will also have an art station with paints, canvas, watercolours and child-friendly crafts. Live, local music will be playing throughout the afternoon and sandwich platters will be available. This event is free of charge and is a great way to keep your family entertained!
