TOOWOOMBA TRAILS: SECRET STORIES + PLACES OF WWII
From: | Thursday 25 April 2024 |
---|---|
To: | Thursday 25 April 2024 |
Time: | 1:00pm - 03:00pm Thursday 25 April 2024 |
Location: | Laurel Bank Park , Hill Street , Toowoomba , QLD 4350 Australia |
During World War 2 Toowoomba played a small, yet significant role, emerging as a pivotal hub for training, logistics, medical services, rest & recreation and much more.
We unveil the captivating and often overlooked tales of Toowoomba's wartime legacy, delving into questions surrounding Toowoomba's unexpected association with submarines and its 18 air-raid shelters and uncovering why the defence of the East Coast was strategically planned from our city rather than Brisbane.
This ANZAC Day, join local guide Paul Herbert on an exploration of Toowoomba’s fascinating war history - much of it still clearly visible if you know where to look. All our tours conclude with a drink in a local pub or café covered in ticket cost. The tour starts and finishes in different locations, so consider parking closer to the end of the route, at Clifford House. Don’t forget to wear your comfortable walking shoes and dress for outdoors!
