"Magical Threads of Spring" Embroidery Exhibition

The Toowoomba Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild of Queensland is holding its biennial two day Embroidery Exhibition on Friday and Saturday 1 – 2 September 2023.  Members of the Guild look forward to sharing their embroidery with the local community and visitors to Toowoomba during the first weekend of Carnival of Flowers.  The theme for the exhibition this year is “Magical Threads of Spring”.

Working demonstrations by members throughout the two days will offer opportunities for members of the public to discuss some of the embroidery techniques used in the work.

The Guild members have created beautiful handmade items for sale, a great opportunity to find the perfect choice for Christmas gifts or a birthday present.

Membership of the Toowoomba Guild is close to 90 embroiderers and steadily growing. The Guild meets on Tuesday at St David’s Church on Alford Street Toowoomba and in Highfields on Thursday. A Saturday group has been initiated and is held on the fourth Saturday every month. It is proving popular with embroidery enthusiasts who are working during the week.

Entry to the Exhibition is $5 which includes tea or coffee and light refreshments.  The Exhibition is at Glenvale Community Baptist Church from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm Friday and 10.00 am to 3.00 pm Saturday. The venue is also wheel chair friendly. Look for the signs and Glenvale Road.
