STILL KEEPING THE PROMISE.
Legacy is one of Australia's oldest and most trusted charities. Next Year marks a centenary of support for families of those who have given their lives or health in the military service of this country.  Celebrating 100 years in 2023, the Legacy Centenary Torch Relay is a six month campaign to pay homage and acknowledge veterans' families, saluting their sacrifice.
WHEN? The relay begins on ANZAC Day 25th April 2023 in Pozieres, France. It will then travel to London, England where it will the depart to continue its tour throughout Australia over six months.
WHY? Established in 1923 in Melbourne by Sir Stanley Savige, Legacy will be celebrating 100 years. The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay presented by Defence Health aims to not only commemorate the previous century, but also highlight what the future holds for the organisation. As we continue to salute their sacrifice and provide continuous care to those who have given so much, we want to honour the past, the present and build a future for Legacy.
HOW? By travellingto key sites and areas of significance such as Mouquet Farm in Pozieres and through the City of London, then travelling to Australia through each Legacy Club where support has been (and continues to be) provided to veterans' families with additional stops at Iconic Australian landmarks .

The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay will arrive in Toowoomba on 14th June 2023. The Toowoomba Leg will commence at Picnic Point and the torch will be carried down Herries Street, following East Creek along to Burstow Street and then pause briefly at the Mothers' Memorial to honour Comrades and Family Members. It will then depart along Margaret Street turning Right at the traffic lights heading for Chalk Drive and then on to Ruthven Street where the torch will be carried South to Herries Street Intersection. There it will be carried to the Council Chambers Steps and handed over to Legacy President Jock Crocombe, who will light the commemorative Cauldron.  The Mayor of Toowoomba, Councillor Paul Antonio, has generously agreed to host a Civic Reception for the Torch Relay and Invited Guests.
This is a significant event for the Legacy Family and the wider Veteran Community and it is hoped that the Torch Relay will be cheered along its way.
