Many of our tutoring and homeschool families will have met our lovely tutor, Joeleene. Her grandson Louis, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA1) at just 6 weeks of age. This unexpected diagnosis turned his family's lives upside down. His mum, Claudia, is unable to work as she is required to be little Louis' full time carer, and his condition requires regular trips to Brisbane, different therapies, treatments & products. Without these, Louis would never sit up, crawl, or walk and his muscles would gradually waste away until he passed. Untreated, babies with SMA1 do not live beyond their first birthday.

Claudia & Louis need your help with the ongoing costs involved with medical expenses, treatment products, therapies, hospital parking, travel costs, loss of wages as well as the need for equipment such as bath & feeding seats, modified bedding, breathing aids, feeding aids & wheelchairs, many of these items are not covered by NDIS.
