World Day of Prayer 2024
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Interested people of goodwill are invited to a World Day of Prayer 2024 service, to be hosted in Toowoomba at Middle Ridge Uniting Church, 264 Stenner Street, Toowoomba on Friday 1 March at 10am. The service will be followed by refreshments.
World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome you to join in prayer and action for peace and justice.
The theme of World Day of Prayer 2024 is “I beg you … bear with one another in love”, based on Ephesians 4:1-5 in our Bible. It is a privilege for Middle Ridge Uniting Church to be host this year. The material has been prepared by Christian women in Palestine. We will focus on praying for peace in Palestine and the Middle East.
The Guest Speaker is a local Palestinian Christian woman.
The choice of Palestine for this year’s focus and the preparation of the materials by the Christian women of Palestine both happened before the current conflict in Gaza. We see it as God’s will that people all over the world should care about conflict wherever it happens and should pray for a spirit of peace to descend upon leaders and participants. A just and lasting peace, surely, in every case, is an appropriate prayer.
Entry is free. A voluntary offering will be collected (with opportunity to donate online, also) to support the Bible Society’s “Living Stones Project” which offers a centre for Christian community building in Palestine - encouraging women, students and families with God’s word and inspiring them to be light and salt in troubled times.
