Learn the intricacies of the art of songwriting with one of the industry’s best: a professor of poetry and lyrics, and songwriter to the stars

Pat Pattison is a Professor at Berklee College of Music, where he teaches Lyric Writing and Poetry. Pat is one of the world’s leading scholars for providing and teaching a framework for improving your songwriting skills.

Pat will be presenting a workshop involving sharing his valuable knowledge and interactive discussion. The workshop will be held on Thursday 20 August from 10am to 1pm and is appropriate for high school students studying music or songwriting as well as teachers wanting to develop their understanding best practise in a songwriting framework. Participants are encouraged to stay for the afternoon session, 2pm to 5pm, where the current USQ Music students will work with Pat to present their original songs.

In addition to his four books, Songwriting Without Boundaries, Writing Better Lyrics, The Essential Guide to Lyric Form and Structure, and The Essential Guide to Rhyming, Pat has developed five online course for berkleemusic.com.
