For one night only Toowoomba's historic Empire Theatre will host a unique opportunity for the general public and community services to engage in open discussion on mental health with a panel of leading mental health advocates and policy makers.

Passionate suicide prevention advocate John Mendoza will provide the keynote speech that sets the stage for a discussion on possible future directions of mental health. The evening's MC, comedian and author Mandy Nolan, will introduce panellists representing a diversity of voices, including the Qld Mental Health Commissioner, Qld National Disability Insurance Scheme Ambassador, Indigenous, LGBTI, carer and consumer groups while a roving microphone roams the audience for questions and anecdotal experiences.

The evening showcases visual art displays, live music and catering produced by local people with the lived experience of mental illness. Local mental health organisations will display a range of information on their services and support programs in the foyer.

This is a free public event, all are welcome and invited to appreciate the contribution made to the community by people living with mental illness. It reinforces the importance of good mental health and wellbeing for everyone, as well as the important role that participation plays in the road to recovery.
