Warmwaters – comedy and folk music collide

From:Friday 16 October 2015
To:Friday 16 October 2015
Time:7:00pm - 08:00pm Friday 16 October 2015
Location:UniSQ Arts Theatre, 35-117 Baker Street, Darling Heights, QLD 4350 Australia

Warmwaters invite you to their own two-person folk festival, featuring their own distinctively arousing brand of acoustic music.

Lena and Luke Warmwater have been described as “…the southern hemisphere’s most inspirational nu-folk duo.” Never heard of them? Come and find out why.

Lena Warmwater wants to go with the flow, but Luke Warmwater refuses to thaw. Lena is seriously playful. Luke wants to play seriously. Can they make it through the show?

Imagine a musical duo made up of Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais. Lovable losers, a double act of double entendre. Imagine a band breaking up onstage. Imagine a room full of people gently singing Puff the Magic Dragon. Everyone enjoys good roots, and Warmwaters stand ready to folk you right up with their songs of romance and other issues. They’ve certainly got a lot of issues.

What the Warmwaters do looks like music, yet it’s very theatrical. Or is it the other way around? Brought to you by Brisbane playwright/songwriter David Megarrity and actor/comedian Bridget Boyle, this original music-driven comedy is sprinkled with classics from Peter, Paul and Mary, Donavon and even the Velvet Underground. It’s two vocals, guitar and flute: a seemingly simple set-up for a gig, but no gig is ever simple for Warmwaters.

Drinks available for purchase before and after the show.
