Local artist Karri McPherson’s A Matter of Form explores geometric art in relation to contemporary spatial confinements. The body of work breaks down boundaries by questioning the perceived limitations of abstract art. The paintings explore colour relativity and visual deception in a bid to understand how specific colour combinations and compositions can generate an illusion of depth and dimension on a flat surface. An in-situ wall painting reflects this body of work whilst developing a dialogue between art and architecture and de-constructing the white cube of exhibition spaces. A Matter of Form endeavours to question the structure of two-dimensional surfaces and their relevance within a contemporary gallery setting.
