Presenting Schumann Symphony No 1, Schubert Symphony No 8 and a surprise work. The Austrian composer Franz Schubert was just 13 when Robert Schumann, of German origin, was born in 1810.

Schubert carried on the traditions of the Classical style from Beethoven while Schumann looked forward to the Romanticism of Brahms and Mendelssohn. Despite this difference their compositions share an intimacy and openness that allows one to feel a direct contact with the soul of these great composers.

At the conclusion of the concert join the orchestra for a light supper and chat.
