How would you depict a tea service, a pair of owls, a black cat returning your gaze, a self-portrait as a fool, forced laughter, or scintillas of light on glossy-skinned fruit? In this exhibition, wood engravings of these subjects made in the 1920s and 30s by the master printmaker Lionel Lindsay (1874-1961) share space, or double up, with artworks by later Australian artists that depict similar subjects, emotions and tones but in dissimilar ways.

Exhibition on display 17 July - 17 October 2021
