Rigby’s work focusses on introspective self- portraits. She uses the gaze to engage the viewer; in some instances it is intended to be confrontational, in others it is more as a glance or disregard. Either way, the subjects look to the audience asking for nothing more than a brief interaction. The title Reckoning refers to a need to face the present, to look inwardly and not only accept but take solace in the fact that time will always insist upon itself, and change is an inevitable and welcome notion.
