Time:12:00am -  Thursday 14 November 2024
Location:Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery, 531 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba, QLD 4350 Australia

In late 2017, local artist Benjamin Tupas travelled to Mindanao in the southern Philippines to visit the places where his parents grew up. The trip was his first after an almost 18-year gap, and his first as an adult.

In Mindanao Story Cycle, Tupas reflects on this experience and explores ideas about cultural identity and intergenerational stories. Using mixed media, the work connects family across disparate times and spaces to create the beginnings of an origin story that is both fact and myth.

Benjamin Tupas is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toowoomba who works in the areas of video, photography and graphic design. Mindanao Story Cycle is his first solo exhibition.

Join Ben and the gallery for the Opening & Artist talk on Sunday 11 February @ 1.30pm. This is a free event and all are welcome | RSVP to the gallery by noon Wednesday 7 February 2018.

Exhibition on display 10 February to 11 March 2018.
