Secret Lives is a mixed media exhibition using eco-dyed blankets, cotton, silk cloth and paper. Local artist Elizabeth Schmidt has been interested, for some time, in using various plant leaves, bark and twigs to hot-water-dye cloth and paper. Schmidt’s love of embroidery transfers to the softly dyed textiles in the form of little creatures and flowers of the Australian bush. Ants, spiders, dragonflies, bugs and flowers in various forms adorn the panels. The artist draws inspiration from the colours of nature and the diverse Australian landscape.
Join us and Elizabeth Schmidt for the Opening & Artist Talk on Sunday1 July @ 1:30pm.
This is a free event and all are welcome. RSVP to the Gallery by Wednesday 27 June 2018.
Exhibition on display 30 June – 29 July 2018.
This exhibition is part of the Cam Robertson Gallery exhibition program that showcases the work of artists, curators and arts organisations in the Toowoomba Region.
