10 Reasons you have to come to the Murphys Creek Chilli Festival

FACE it:  This list could simply be the word "chilli" 10 times in a row lol.

But the reality is, there are numerous reasons you should come to the Murphys Creek 3rd Chilli Festival.

1.  Chilli

SO, we had to start here, because not everyone loves the spice and the festival is all about flavour AND fire!

The Murphys Creek grounds will heave with the hot stuff (and not so hot, seriously, don't be scared).  Every stand has to incorporate chilli in some way, even the local chocolate stall!

2.  Charity

Always supporting a worthy cause.  This year Gatton SES, local P&C, Progress & Buy-a-Bale will benefit from your gold coin dontations & raffle tickets purchases.  Smash your piggy bank now!

3.  Lots for the kids

Food festivals are usually boring for little ones, but not this one.

There will be a petting zoo, jumping castle, face-painting, pony rides, horse rides, candle making, free playground, free mini fire truck rides & lots of fun food for them to try! A free fruit & icy pole competition is at 3pm.

4.  Constant Chilli Puns & Tunes

Who doesn't love a hot pun?

Burning ring of Fire is the DJ's most requested song and he takes bribes and requests!  No festival is complete without live entertainment, you can enjoy local buskers, boot scooters, cultural & indigenous perfromances, a boy playing violin with a lamb & they'd all love some of your heavy coins.

The charity chilli hot dash is on twice, intrigued? We will leave that up to your imagination!

Well-behaved pets also welcome.

5.  Beer Garden?  Yes please!

Apart from the kombucha, fresh juices, ginger beer, chilli & lime soda, slushies, iced tea, wine tasting and of course cold H2O - the Murphys Creek Tavern are running the Beer Garden & they have some spicy specials.

6.  Learn New Things

We all like to learn a new trick - grab lunch and sit in the pavilion because from 12pm - 1.30pm you can enjoy free talks from food scientists (keynote speaker from London talking about a new purple tomato), chilli benefits on fat cells, managing food waste and new food trends.  Plus, organic farmers and cooking demos, all inside while you enjoy your lunch.

7.  Grow your own

Buy chillli seeds and plants and speak directly with the growers.  If you have sauce and chutney making queries, all vendors make their own products, ask away.

8.  Burn those calories off!

Chilli is SO good for your metabolism and just walking around trying chilli sauces will burn heaps of calories, plus there are no calories in chilli chocolate on Sundays.

9.  Chilli Comp you ask?

DARE YOU to enter the Seatonfire Chilli Chocolate Challenge!? At 2.30pm the event highlight will entertain you if you aren't game to enter.  Varying levels of chilli dipped in chilli chocolate and hot sauces is hilarious to watch!

No death waiver required for the free kids fruit and icy pole challenge at 3pm.

10.  Explore the surroundings

A month after Carnival of Flowers, the gardens are still stunning, but the star of October is the Murphys Creek Chilli Festival.  The Lockyer Valley and Toowoomba are beautiful places to visit all year round.

So, what's stopping you from heading to Murphys Creek for our 3rd Charity Chilli Festival?  10am - 4pm, Sunday 14 October 2018.  Jessie Lane, Murphys Creek  Qld  4352   https://www.facebook.com/Murphyscreekchillifestival/
