My arts practice is closely intertwined with my own life. Like many women my age, I work and care for my family. Many of my paintings are representative of this experience. The domestic experience of women is private, interior and regarded as unimportant. This exhibition is entitled ‘After Hours’ as most of my artworks have been completed to fit around my mothering, caring and work life. In many ways, they are like looking in a mirror or entering a relaxed dream like state. I see myself as largely a historical painter, as I document moments in time within my own life. Images and colours are combined to tell stories that are either obvious or incongruent. I also make reference to Old Masters, such as Goya, Titian and Bosch, as I attempt to emulate the luminous and seductive quality of paint achieved by these artists.

Exhibition on display Saturday 2 July to Sunday 31 July 2016.
