The Toowoomba Jazz Society will host one of Australia’s premier Jazz bands CAXTON STREET at the North Toowoomba Bowls Club
The Caxton Street Jazz Band has been performing virtually non-stop since its formation in Brisbane in 1977 and is regarded as one of Australia's top bands playing in the hot jazz style. The present line-up has been together for many years and it shows in their tight ensemble playing, crisp arrangements and entertaining presentation.
The band's broad repertoire spans the classic jazz years of the 1920s to the 1950s and includes mainstream, swing, trad/New Orleans revival and blues. Adding variety to the performances are the fine vocals of Bernice Haydock (piano/vocals) and Tom Nicolson (Trombone/banjo/vocals). John Braben (trumpet), Paul Williams (clarinet/tenor sax), Andrew Shaw (double bass) and Bob Mair (drums/washboard) complete the quality line-up.
The band will perform at the North Toowoomba Bowls club on Friday 30th September. Meals are available between 6:00 and 7:15pm and the gig begins at 7:45. Entry is $15 for members and $20 for visitors.
