Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s holdings were considerably enlarged by the donation of a private collection by art enthusiasts Frederick and Lucy Gould. Fred and Lucy Gould were avid collectors of European, Asian and Australian artefacts and their collection comprised approximately 350 works from the mid-1700s to the 1930s. Some of the unique treasures collected by the Goulds include antique furniture, fine porcelain and glassware, gold and silverware, bronzes and carved ivory pieces, paintings and drawings, and prints and curios, mostly from Europe and Asia.

The fine and decorative art holdings of The Fred and Lucy Gould Art Collection were donated to the City in 1950 and remain on semi-permanent display on the first floor in the Gould galleries. From Minton vases and 18th-century glassware to artworks by George Leslie Hunter and Ernest W Christmas, this eclectic collection is sure to delight.
