- Deeny Kohler-Caporale on Vocals
- Arlene Bird on Piano
- Steven Clark on Drums
- Camillo Lanzafami on Bass
Black Velvet Jazz Quartet presents a touch of class with their mix of toe-tapping Latin Groove, Standards and Middle-of-the-Road Rock to keep audiences enthralled and entertained.
South African born jazz singer, Deeny Kohler-Caporale hails from Cape Town and has been residing in Australia since 1979. She is the owner of Bohemian coffee shop and restaurant in King Street Warwick called “Joie de Vivre-the Joy of Life” where she often performs with the Black Velvet Jazz Ensemble. Deeny does a mix of Latin and Traditional Jazz Standards, tossing in an original flavour of Soul to spice things up. She keeps the boys, and one gorgeous gal “in line” with her energetic repertoire. Her performance includes popular hits from the charts of Bassey, Cole, Vaughn, James and Holiday, as well as a smidge of Piaf to name a few…..
New to the group is Ms. Arlene Bird, a Conservatorium trained Classical Pianist and highly acclaimed Music Teacher. Arlene is versatile in any genre and audiences will delight in her musical talent.
Also new to Black Velvet Jazz is Steven Clark, a highly respected Drummer, Percussionist, Drumming Teacher, Visual Artist and all-round top bloke. He particularly favours Jazz and Blues and has a sensitive style for Latin Rhythms. He has performed with many bands across the State.
Last, but by no means least, is Toowoomba’s favourite son, Camillo Lanzafarmi , Bass Player Extraordinaire and Trumpeter to add for good measure! Camillo has played in so many various bands and is highly regarded in any Jazz Arena. Camillo is a treasured member of Black Velvet Jazz Quartet! It is quickly evident that not only are all the musicians experts at their trade, but also fun to be around!
