The Alternative Technology Association is holding a forum on Wednesday 18 July to inform Toowoomba residents about the great benefits of using electric bicycles in and around the city.

Bicycles using electric motors to assist the rider, offer tremendous opportunities for healthy outdoor activity, as well as sweat and emissions free commuting in and around Toowoomba.

For people whose knees and legs may not be as strong as they once were, the motor kicks in and helps them make the hills and distances that may have been out of reach on a conventional bike.

Then there are the benefits of leaving the car at home and travelling to work or play on an electric bike. Follow some of Toowoomba’s dedicated bike paths or lanes, and arrive at your destination in the outdoors without needing a shower or change of clothes.

The speakers at the forum include Hugh Wilson, President of the Toowoomba Region Bicycle Users Group (TRBUG), who will speak about bike friendly bike paths and routes and will also show his own conversion of a conventional bicycle to electric.

Dr. Rob Brodribb who will speak by video about how his electric bike kept him cycling despite knee problems.

Jeff Nolan, Secretary of TRBUG, is a sports E-biker. Hear how that keeps his life exciting on the downhill parts without being exhausting on the uphill trip home.

Jon Belling of Jonny Sprockets, will show some electric bikes on the market and their features.
