Drawing from the themes of the exhibition Reminiscence: Celebrating 100 years of Australian visionary Judith Wright, this workshop will look at the relationship between the written word and visual art making. Flying Arts artist, Scott Maxwell will conduct a workshop that takes the act of drawing into another dimension. Through the immediacy of drawing, participants will be able to sketch ideas and concepts for a variety of projects.

Participants will explore their favourite works of poetry, translating ideas from the written word into a series of drawings. This workshop is suitable for all ages and a range of skill levels.

Reminiscence pays tribute to Judith Wright and her life and passions, reflecting on her contributions to Australian literature, wildlife and environment conservation, and Indigenous land rights. Featuring ceramics and works on paper from artists Frances Smith and Fiona Rafferty, Reminiscence will be on display at Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery from 16 April until 29 May 2016.

This exhibition has been created in partnership with the Flying Arts Curator Development Program ‘Curators in Space’ in 2015. A Flying Arts Alliance touring exhibition.
