Enjoy an enchanting evening with this multi-award winning cellist and pianist.
Hosted by the USQ Academic Division
This accomplished duo will present a program of much loved classics including Beethoven’s stunningMoonlight Sonata, Debussy’s magical sonata for cello and piano, and Schumann’s fiery Fantasy pieces. The concert also features music by the avant-garde genius Greek composer Iannis Xenakis alongside a virtuosic exploration of the cello in David Popper’s Tarantella.
The repertoire will be a wonderful mix of music that will be familiar to audiences and with a few lesser known works that will engage and entice listeners.
Cellist Katherine Philp and pianist Alex Raineri (winner of the 2014 Joyce Campbell Lloyd Scholarship – University of Southern Queensland) are accomplished young Australian musicians and have been performing chamber music together for several years. Multi award-winners, they have performed with distinguished ensembles and musicians such as the Queensland, Tasmanian, West Australian and Darwin Symphony Orchestras, Camerata of St John’s, Orchestra Victoria, Queensland Pops Orchestra, Andreas Ottensamer and Kurilpa String Quartet. They are both founding members of the contemporary music ensemble Kupka’s Piano.
A reception in the USQ Arts Gallery will follow the recital – refreshments will be served.
