On the day

You will use copper sheet, wire, pipe and a solder fixative to construct a unique three dimensional copper sculpture. To complete your sculpture, you will clean it with fine sand paper and treat it with acid to create a varied colour scheme, featuring greens, various blues, oranges and red. The sculpture will then be covered with a clear varnish to maintain and protect the finish.

Meet your tutor

Acclaimed glass artist Richard Apel has completed numerous public art commissions including a stained glass chapel window at Wesley Hospital in Brisbane. In 2008, Richard was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to learn centuries old German glass painting and firing techniques at the Schilling factory in Frankfurt.
