Through their practice, textile artists Elizabeth Schmidt and Diana Vogel, explore modern interpretations of ancient arts in an age-old quest to express that which resonates with their hearts.

With deep roots in the Downs Region, their generational connections echo through their work as Elizabeth and Diana share moments which left lasting impressions, giving a glimpse into their lives and inviting discussion and reflection upon what is important: family, friends, the environment we live in and how we live in our world.

The world today may be vastly different, yet artisan skills our ancestors possessed and shared are just as relevant now as they were then. The way we use them may have changed, yet the impact on our lives, particularly our sense of community and mental health, remains the same.
