How Soon Is Now? brings together a selection of Bruce Reynolds’ exquisite cast relief works with painterly, two-dimensional collaged linoleum works, to celebrate a physicality that is frequently overlooked in today’s growing digital environment.

Exploring how we arrived at this point – from the archaic to a language of compressed space - Bruce’s work invites consideration of the ancient and the ‘now’.

Bruce’s work grew from collage to relief and sculpture over a number of decades. Recent residencies in Rome focused both studio and architectural works on relief forms that occupy the space between painting and sculpture, between drawing and architecture. He describes it as being both archaic and a fresh place of representation.

For this exhibition, Bruce has used an antique process that favours direct material involvement to cast works from liquid to solid that, when carved, create lively manifestations of thoughts on time, deep time and everyday archaeology.
